How Many Wise Men Came To See Jesus?

Most churches today teach that there are three wise men who came to see the baby Jesus in the manger, shortly after his miraculous birth. They sing the song "We Three Kings," among other songs and poems that proclaim that the Magi went to see the baby Jesus.

But is this really what the Bible teaches? Was it really only three, and they came to the manger to adore the Child Jesus?

To be honest, the Bible supports such an instruction at all. It 'was the shepherds who came to the crib the same night that Jesus was born. The Bible does not say, but probably not the wise men visited Jesus '1 -2 years after his birth, and visited him at home, not in the manger.

The story is found in Matthew 2:1-12, and it is unclear how many there were. He said only that he came and got three gifts. It is possible, because they brought three gifts, this might be one reason why it is learned that there were three.

But the theory is absurd, because there may be up to 10 essays, all of which have brought gifts of gold, or 10 that brought gifts of myrrh, and 10, which has brought incense. Statement on the Bible is true regardless of how many they were, because there was really only 3 gifts.

The teaching of the three wise men comes from an interesting legend fiction, and medieval states that there were three kings who came to see Jesus, and their names were Caspar, Melchior and Balthazar. Gaspar was king of Tarsus, who has the gift of myrrh, Melchior was king of Arabia, who brought gold, and Balthasar king of Ethiopia incense.

Only after 500 years after Jesus' birth, these names of their way to Christian teachings. So we know the truth to them at all.

Another popular teaching of the wise men is that they followed the star to the manger, and visited the baby. But the Bible makes no claim. He made it clear that the star came and stood over where the child was, who was in a house. He said the wise men in the house where the child was, and they fell down and worshiped the child. (Matthew 2:9-11)
